Miloš Doležal: Čurda, ride and spring

Miloš Doležal was born in 1970 in Ledeč nad Sázavou and studied journalism at Charles University in Prague. Between 2002 and 2018, he worked as a literary editor for Czech Radio’s Vltava channel. He writes poetry, short prose and works as a journalist and editor. His main interests lie in the memories of his native Vysočina region, but especially in the injustices and terror of WWII and the following period of Stalinism in the early 1950s. He published over twenty books, with his latest being Ezechiel v kopřivách (Ezekiel in Nettles, 2014), Krok do tmavé noci (A Step into the Dark Night, 2015), Za (Behind, 2017), Jízda na skle ochcanou strání (Riding Glass Down a Piss-Sodden Slope, 2017), Křižná studánka (Cross Spring, 2018), Čurda z Hlíny (Čurda Made of Clay, 2019). In 2011, he came to the public attention with his bestseller titled Jako bychom dnes zemřít měli (As If We Should Die Today) depicting the life and death of Father Josef Toufar.
