Florin Lăzărescu: Three dimensional narratives

Born in 1974, Florin Lăzărescu is an author, screenwriter and organiser of the Iași Book Festival. He studied at the Faculty of Arts of Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in his hometown. In the year 2000, he published his first short story collection titled Cuiburi de vâsc(Mistletoe Nests). Three years later he published his first novel Ce se știe despre ursul panda (What They Know About the Panda Bear). He won the Grand Award for East-European Literature at the Leipzig Book Fair 2006 for Trimisul nostru special (Our Special Envoy), a brisk narrative satirising contemporary media. The book was subsequently translated into dozens of European languages.His short story titled Lampa cu căciulă(The Tube with a Hat) was adapted by the director Radu Jude and won numerous awards at film festivals around the world.He published the novel Amorțire(Numbness) and co-authored the screenplay of Aferim!, which won the Silver Bear for Best Director prize at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival.
